There is a ten-minute interview with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lensculture.com\/ballen-video.html\" target=\"_blank\">Roger Ballen<\/a><\/em> about his work, nicely done and one of the earliest of a new video series, <em>Lens Culture: Conversations with Photographers<\/em>, though perhaps the music was just a little overdone.\u00a0 There is another with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lensculture.com\/home_images_2010_01\/home-roberts-lg.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">Simon Roberts<\/a><\/em> too.<\/p>\n<p>Completely new to me were the black and white portraits of kids at play by  which Jim Caspar found in a contest at <em>The Center for Fine Art Photography<\/em> in Colorado that he was asked to judge.\u00a0 Some of  <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lensculture.com\/pinckley.html\" target=\"_blank\">Donna Pinckley<\/a><\/em>&#8216;s pictures have a quality that reminded me of <em>Diane Arbus<\/em>&#8216;s kid with a hand grenade, (see the contacts and read more about Colin Wood, interviewed 41 years after the exposure in the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/c\/a\/2003\/10\/19\/PK252837.DTL\" target=\"_blank\"> San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>There is also a feature<em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lensculture.com\/chaotic_harmony.html?thisPic=100\" target=\"_blank\">Chaotic Harmony: Contemporary Korean Photography<\/a><\/em>, a review of the book accompanying the show of 40 contemporary Korean photographers at <em>The Museum of Fine Art<\/em>s in Houston and the <em>Santa Barbara Museum of Art<\/em>. With 13 images it gives what can only be a very partial idea of the work but may whet your appetite; if so, the book\u00a0 <em>Chaotic Harmony: Contemporary Korean Photography<\/em>\u00a0 (ISBN: 0300157533 \/ 0-300-15753-3, <em>Tucker, Anne Wilkes; Sinsheimer, Karen; Koo, Bohnchang<\/em> is available for around \u00a318 including delivery from the cheaper UK suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t fly out to Houston as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mfah.org\/exhibition.asp?par1=1&amp;par2=3&amp;par3=610&amp;par4=1&amp;par5=1&amp;par6=1&amp;par7=&amp;lgc=4&amp;eid=&amp;currentPage=\" target=\"_blank\">Chaotic Harmony<\/a> closed there earlier this month; but the page is still worth visiting for the audio there. Still showing in Houston is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mfah.org\/exhibition.asp?par1=1&amp;par2=1&amp;par3=603&amp;par4=1&amp;par5=1&amp;par6=1&amp;par7=&amp;lgc=4&amp;eid=&amp;currentPage=\" target=\"_blank\">Your Bright Future: 1<\/a><span class=\"heading3\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mfah.org\/exhibition.asp?par1=1&amp;par2=1&amp;par3=603&amp;par4=1&amp;par5=1&amp;par6=1&amp;par7=&amp;lgc=4&amp;eid=&amp;currentPage=\" target=\"_blank\">2 Contemporary Artists from Korea<\/a> <\/span>continues until Feb 14th &#8211; and you can see an interesting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mfah.org\/ybf\/\" target=\"_blank\">presentation <\/a>on it on their site.\u00a0 <em>Chaotic Harmony <\/em>will be on show at Santa Barbara from July 3\u00a0&#8211; September 19, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Too much more of interest to mention, and I have to get down to some other work.
