{"id":8687,"date":"2018-08-17T09:53:07","date_gmt":"2018-08-17T09:53:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=8687"},"modified":"2018-08-17T09:59:32","modified_gmt":"2018-08-17T09:59:32","slug":"andrea-bruce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=8687","title":{"rendered":"Andrea Bruce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/noorimages.com\/photographer\/bruce\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NOOR web site<\/a>, <em>&#8220;Andrea Bruce is an award winning documentary photographer whose work focuses on people living in the aftermath of war<\/em>.&#8221; So it perhaps made her an obvious choice as photographer for a recent New York Times article, &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/05\/28\/world\/europe\/uk-austerity-poverty.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In Britain, Austerity Is Changing Everything<\/a>&#8216; by Peter S Goodman. <\/p>\n<p>Both text and pictures are interesting and illuminating, though much of what Goodman writes will be familiar to those of us living in the UK. But I particularly admire Bruce&#8217;s images and her use of space, as well as the range of images and the research and gaining access that must have gone into the project. She obviously had a very good &#8216;fixer&#8217;, often the unsung heroes of documentary photography.<\/p>\n<p>You can see more of her work on the <a href=\"http:\/\/noorimages.com\/photographer\/bruce\/\"  rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NOOR web site<\/a>, where there is also a short biography of this American photographer born in 1973. She also appears on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldpressphoto.org\/collection\/photo\/2014\/daily-life\/andrea-bruce\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Press Photo site<\/a> for her Soldier&#8217;s Funeral which was awarded second prize for single photos in the Daily Life section of the 2014 WPP awards.<\/p>\n<p>Some of you may also be able to access <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andreabruce.com\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">her own web site<\/a>, but on my normal browser all I get is a white screen with the message &#8216;<em>Click to enable Adobe Flash player<\/em>&#8216; which fails to respond to my clicking.
