{"id":7614,"date":"2017-09-01T10:13:54","date_gmt":"2017-09-01T10:13:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=7614"},"modified":"2017-08-24T10:15:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-24T10:15:00","slug":"peckham-against-deportations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=7614","title":{"rendered":"Peckham against Deportations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2017\/01\/21\/20170121-d425.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A week after their march in Brixton, Movement for Justice returned to South London for another march against deportation, this time in Peckham, another area where immigration raids have met with anger from the local population.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2017\/01\/21\/20170121-d049.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"301\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The protesters are calling on the governments of Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, Pakistan and Afghanistan to end their collusion with the racist UK government. They say that immigration raids and mass deportation charter flights are targeting long-established African, Asian and Caribbean communities, dividing families, deporting people who have built lives in the UK with parents, partners and children here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2017\/01\/21\/20170121-d150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><br \/>\n<small>One of several stops for short speeches to let everyone know why they are protesting<\/small><\/p>\n<p>They compare these flights to the ships used in the slave trade, calling them modern slave ships, with deportees shackled with a guard on each side in a cruel and divisive act of racist discrimination.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2017\/01\/21\/20170121-d222.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>High Court decisions have ruled that the Home Office has exceeded its legal powers in its deportation of people between 2005 and 2015 with over 10,000 asylum seekers having been illegally deported from the UK in that period.
