I was going to London maiinly to meet a couple of friends and probably should have just done that and enjoyed some time with them &#8211; and perhaps a few beers. Even have left the cameras at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Green Fair and the Interfaith Picnic were interesting and I did manage to take a few pictures of aspects of London which now, looking back, are of more interest than I thought at the time. So here are some of the photos and what I wrote back in 2007 &#8211; and links to more pictures on <a href=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/sep.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">My London Diary.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brick Lane<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spitalfields.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0001.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0002.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Not a lot was happening around lunchtime in Brick Lane, so I took a few snaps and went elsewhere.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sunday none of the three events I visited really turned out to be what I expected. I started in Brick Lane where a music festival was on offer. It didn&#8217;t really seem to have started when I was there and I couldn&#8217;t be bothered to wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0008.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>I took a few pictures in the market which takes place every Sunday<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"686\" src=\"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-1024x686.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19375\" srcset=\"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-1024x686.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-300x201.jpg 300w, http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-768x514.jpg 768w, http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-1536x1028.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/20070909-d0009-2400-2048x1371.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0011.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>So I took the underground to Blackfriars to get a train to Herne Hill<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/sep09-01.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">More pictures on My London Diary<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brockwell Park Urban Green Fair<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Herne Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0012.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Herne Hill<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I went on to the Urban Green Fair at Brockwell Park (a short journey on the train from Blackfriars [to Herne Hill station.])<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0045.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>I&#8217;m not sure who would want a wooden mushroom, though some you could sit on.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0055.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>An apple press would be useful, but this Italian one was rather larger than I needed<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was a bit more interesting but did seem to be rather too much people trying to sell things, and I had hoped for more music and performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0060.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>I met again the great pedal-powered Rinky-Dink sound system<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/sep09-02.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">More pictures<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interfaith Peace Picnic &#8211; Lambeth Peace Month<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Windrush Square, Brixton<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0197.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Imam (centre) with assistant and Toaha Qureshi from Stockwell Green Islamic Centre<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I met Dave and Bob at the Green Fair, and Dave told me that there was an Interfaith Peace Picnic just about to start in Windrush Square in Brixton. So I jumped on a 37 bus for the few stops there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mylondondiary.co.uk\/2007\/09\/09\/20070909-d0079.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the different groups present offered generous amounts of free vegetarian food, and it pained me to have to refuse most of it.
