{"id":1561,"date":"2012-02-26T10:56:50","date_gmt":"2012-02-26T10:56:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=1561"},"modified":"2012-02-26T10:56:50","modified_gmt":"2012-02-26T10:56:50","slug":"wim-wenders-on-james-nachtwey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=1561","title":{"rendered":"Wim Wenders on James Nachtwey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.burnmagazine.org\/essays\/2012\/02\/wim-wenders\/\" target=\"_blank\">Burn Magazine<\/a> prints a long speech by <em>Wim Wenders<\/em> on the photography of <span class=\"Apple-style-span\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jamesnachtwey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">James Nachtwey<\/a><\/em>, made at the award to <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">Nachtwey <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">of the<\/span> third <em>Dresden International Peace Prize <\/em>at the Semper Opera House in Dresden, Germany on 11 Feb 2012 .<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an interesting eulogy, and one in which Wenders backs up his arguments with a detailed look at three images by Nachtwey.<\/p>\n<p>Wenders as well as being an internationally renowned director for his films including <span><em>Paris, Texas <\/em>(1984) and <\/span><span><em>Buena Vista Social Club<\/em> (1999) and, nominated for this year&#8217;s Oscars, <em>Pina <\/em>(2010), is also something of a photographer himself, as you can see from his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wendersimages.com\/ausstellungen\/placesstrangeandquiet.php?location=haunch&amp;lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Places, strange and quiet<\/a> which was shown in London last year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Burn Magazine prints a long speech by Wim Wenders on the photography of James Nachtwey, made at the award to Nachtwey of the third Dresden International Peace Prize at the Semper Opera House in Dresden, Germany on 11 Feb 2012 .
