{"id":1270,"date":"2011-03-11T21:25:53","date_gmt":"2011-03-11T21:25:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=1270"},"modified":"2011-03-11T21:25:53","modified_gmt":"2011-03-11T21:25:53","slug":"30-for-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/re-photo.co.uk\/?p=1270","title":{"rendered":"30 For 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s always interesting to look at PDN&#8217;s annual &#8216;<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pdngallery.com\/gallery\/pdns30\/2011\/\" target=\"_blank\">Top 30<\/a><\/strong>&#8216; choice of &#8216;<em>New and Emerging Photographers to Watch<\/em>&#8216;, and interesting too to look at them a few years later, by which time a few will have become well-known and others we will have heard no more of.<\/p>\n<p>This years batch include rather more than in previous years that I haven&#8217;t heard of before, and perhaps includes rather fewer photographers than usual who I think we will hear of in later years.\u00a0 The choices come from nominations by a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pdngallery.com\/gallery\/pdns30\/2011\/thanks.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">fairly long list<\/a> of people,\u00a0 (including few who I know and slightly fewer whose opinion I respect) which I think have &#8211; as you might expect from PDN &#8211; a strong US and in particular New York bias.<\/p>\n<p>You can read what is at times an interesting discussion of the &#8216;Top 30&#8217; on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aphotoeditor.com\/2011\/03\/03\/pdn-30-2011\/\" target=\"_blank\">A Photo Editor<\/a> blog, though I&#8217;m not sure that I see many of those selected as  &#8220;<em>artsy, young award-winning, British hipster-ish types of shooters<\/em>&#8221; and there is rather too much attacking people who make comments rather than reading what they are saying.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s always interesting to look at PDN&#8217;s annual &#8216;Top 30&#8216; choice of &#8216;New and Emerging Photographers to Watch&#8216;, and interesting too to look at them a few years later, by which time a few will have become well-known and others we will have heard no more of.
